Massive Python Explodes After Swallowing A 2-meter Crocodile That Thrashed Its Way Out

In a distant part of Florida’s Everglades National Park, managers saw an encounter between a python and an alligator. While consuming a 2-meter-long short-snout crocodile in the Everglades National Park, the Burmese python had its stomach torn apart. The Python  was about to swallow the alligator completely when it suddenly ruptured.

The center of the python’s bloated belly rises above the water, exposing the crocodile’s huge body. The 4-meter-long Burmese python apparently proved to be too large for its prey and shattered its stomach before finishing its meal. However, by decreasing its heart rate to 2-3 beats per minute, the crocodile tricked the python into believing it was ᴅᴇᴀᴅ.

Flavio Fenton, a professor in the Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of Physics, remarked of them “They are very resilient”. Burmese pythons ʜᴜɴᴛ by monitoring their prey’s pulse rate.

As a result, the alligator can deceive the python into believing that its prey is immobile. After being swallowed whole, the crocodile’s head, shoulders, and front legs ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋ the adversary from the inside.

The python burst from the counterᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋ’s force, and both creatures drowned in the water. According to Frank Mazzoti, a professor of wildlife at the University of Florida, the outcome of the conflict between the two reptiles was unexpected.

Pythons can ᴋɪʟʟ other animals without a doubt if they can ᴋɪʟʟ crocodiles. This incident proved it was a draw, according to Mazzoti. The crocodile skin was later found in the python’s intestines by wildlife specialists.
