A Shelter Worker Adopts A Kitten That Wouldn’t Stop Meowing
Sugar and his brothers came at the Exploits Valley SPCA in July, and it was evident he was unwell right away. Because he had a respiratory illness that necessitated medicine, he had to stay at the shelter a little longer than the rest of his litter before being adopted.
Sugar bonded with all of the shelter employees and volunteers while he was recovering, and he enjoyed showing off what a cute little cat he was.
“He was extremely friendly and vocal from the beginning,” Sarah MacLeod of the Exploits Valley SPCA told The Dodo.
One of the staff members who Sugar saw a lot was Glen. Glen has been working at the shelter for the past 30 years and absolutely loves it. He was often assigned to clean the room where Sugar was staying, and every time Sugar saw Glen, he got so excited.
Sugar would shout at Glen to stop working and pay attention to him, according to MacLeod.
Sugar would meow incessantly every time Glen went by, until Glen eventually gave him some love and attention. Glen had fallen in love with several cats over the course of 30 years, but he had always managed to see them off to their permanent homes. Sugar, on the other hand, was different. Glen and Sugar definitely had a particular relationship.
“Glen wasn’t looking to adopt, he has a cat already, but loved Sugar too much to let him be adopted,” MacLeod said.
Sugar has settled into his new home and is enjoying his new life. Glen feels he made the correct decision every time he wakes up and sees Sugar.
“Sugar is doing wonderful in his home, Glen has even brought him by to visit us,” MacLeod said.
Some bonds are just too special to ignore. Everyone is so thrilled that Glen and Sugar found each other, and never have to be apart again.
